Went to buy my first electric guitar with very little knowledge of criteria I was looking for. The gent helping me was very knowledgable and patient with me and didn’t push me to immediately spend the upper limits of my budget which I appreciate. Was taken to a back room to test some guitars out and was given space while doing so.
At the till I had a different shop assistance help me and she was very patient with me as well cause I had to transfer money from PayPal to my bank card which took 15 mins to come through. At no point was a made to feel like a burden and she was polite and welcoming throughout.
Overall, I’m really glad I went into the store and didn’t just buy a guitar online cause the experience was great and I’m going to remember it fondly.
Great shop. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. My son loves this shop as he lusts after the guitars and they sometimes let him try them out.
Fantastic place! For a bass guitarist, this shop has many models in different colours, makes, etc, and is one of the best I've been too. Also has a large range of guitars and other instruments
Fantastic, friendly, and helpful staff in here. As a bassist, I really only paid attention to the bass guitars in store, and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. The whole store was generally a nice place to be, the guys are creating a warm atmosphere
The bass dude there was really helpful. I'm only a novice and he did very well in pointing me in the direction of good ones to try for the styles I wanted to cover.
In case bass dude himself reads this, please remind me of that female bassist you mentioned. As a reminder in case you forgot, here's the one I mentioned: Kinga Glyk, check out her Tears in Heaven (and her other stuff while you're there, some of it does get weird though), but yeah, Tears in Heaven is sublime!
Really enjoyed my visit here. I asked a staff member (Seth Phillips) about electronic music production and he clearly knew what he was talking about, he was also friendly which was good. Very good selection of kit also, though as some of the stuff on display was more professionally oriented it might be more intimidating for amateurs.
I plan to make an order online, as the location isn't convenient for me to pick up from.
If someone at PMT reads this review, I'm happy for you to pass on this feedback. Thanks again.
Pro's:
- Sorted out my bass which was a bad batch and managed to get a refund
Con's:
- Staff can be unfriendly, condescending and somewhat abrasive. I don't need an "expert' telling me how high action should be, or how I should learn to set up my own gear. Been playing and gigging for 20 years plus, I think I got the basic jist of it!
- I get it, I have worked in retail, customers can be awful as well, but I was trying to be informal and friendly, would appreciate at least not leaving the store annoyed, and being made to feel like some amateur who doesn't know his gear.
Important to share today's instore experience for all the beginners or just starting out musicians. As a beginner with aspiration to improve it took a lot of self courage to seek out advice and help in choosing a guitar at PMT. Once the member of staff had listened to my story he asked the most sensible question ever, 'what budget are you sticking to?' This made the conversation more focused and straightforward, choices outlined for consideration and the opportunity to sit and play without pressure.
My first ever public play of ' Horse with no name'
Thank you PMT. Highly recommended.
Today I bought a guitar and an amplifier.Workers was kind and they’re helped me to choose which guitar do I need.
